Lelouch Lamperouge

Lelouch is a student at Ashford Academy. Although he is currently known as Lelouch Lamperouge, his true name is Lelouch vi Britannia. In his childhood, his mother was killed. As a result of his outrage over this event, his father, Emperor of Britannia sent him and his sister away to Japan as a political tool. They were thought to have died during the Britannian invasion of Japan.

A very intelligent but unmotivated student, Lelouch, along with Rivalz, spent much of their time playing games for money. After one such game of chess, Lelouch became involved in a terrorist theft when he attempted to help those in a crashed truck. Through this event, he met up with an old friend, Suzaku Kururugi, who was ordered by his superiors in the military to execute him as a terrorist. The intervention of one of the terrorist prevented this and allowed Lelouch and an unknown girl who was in the truck, to escape.

Before they could leave the Shinguku ghetto, Lelouch's cell phone gave them away to the military. As Lelouch is about to be shot, C.C. jumps in front of him to take the bullet. Despite lying on the floor with a bullet in her forehead, the girl manages to communicate with Lelouch. She offers him a contract for the power of Geass which he gladly accepts. Using this power, he is able to escape the situation and continue on to become Zero.
