Misa is a girl that had her life saved by the shinigami Jealous. As a result, Jealous died and his life span was added to hers. Afterwards, she recieved Jealous' Death Note from Rem.

She has decided to use her note to support and meet Kira. In her efforts to make Kira notice her, she sends videos to a TV station that she is holding hostage. In these videos, she claims to be Kira. During this event, she kills several people without previously knowing their names; she has the Shinigami Eyes.
