Sakura TV is a television station that is known for airing sensationalist, made up, and gossip filled news.

Eventually, Sakura TV recieves four tapes from a person claiming to be Kira. These tapes claim to be holding the station hostage and give specific instructions as to how they will be played. After severald anit-Kira reporters are killed, the tapes demand police support.

In attempts to stop the broadcast, one task force member and two police officers are killed after walking to the front of the station. Before long, Soichiro Yagami, recently struck by a heart attack, drives into the building with a van. After brandishing a gun to the people in the studio, he manages to get the tapes and return them to L.
