BackgroundNot much is know about Kurenai. She is a new jonin, skilled in genjutsu, and she seems to have feeling for Asuma.
Kurenai focuses on genjutsu. She has only been seen using a jutsu that allows an illusionary tree to grab opponents.
Kurenai trains team 8 and prepares them for the chunin exams. She is only an observer throughout the exams. We next see her fighting against Itachi and Kisame. She used genjutsu on them; however, Itachi's Sharingan saw through it like it was nothing. Itachi then used a genjutsu reflection and then kicked her into the river. Along with Asuma, Kurenai had no option to stand with her eyes closed as Itachi used his Mangekyo Sharingan's Tsukuyomi on Kakashi. Guy soon arrives to end the battle.
