1: Enter: Naruto Uzumaki
The first episode of the series!
This episode begins with the voice of the Third Hokage explaining the attack of the Nine-Tailed Fox. He mentions that the Fourth Hokage sealed the fox in the body of a human.
After the intro, we see Naruto running from a few ninja. He had put graffiti on great stone faces of the Hokage. He managed to escape his pursuers only to be caught by his academy teacher - Iruka!
After being returned to class, Naruto receives a lecture and the whole class is forced to review the transformation jutsu. As this happens we are introduced to Sakura and Sasuke. When his turn comes up, Naruto uses his sexy jutsu to offend Iruka.
The next scene shows Naruto cleaning up the Hokage faces. Iruka says that he must clean them all up before he can go. Naruto responds bitterly that there is no one waiting at home for him. Knowing how hard Naruto has it, Iruka offers to take Naruto out for ramen. While eating, Iruka asks Naruto why he would do such a thing to the Hokage faces. Naruto then explains that he will someday be Hokage - a ninja legend. Naruto asks to wear the leaf village headband, but Iruka says that he must first pass the graduation exam.
The exam is over the clone jutsu which is Naruto's worst jutsu. He is the only student to fail. Mizuki suggests that he is allowed to pass because he keeps trying, but Iruka disagrees. Naruto is depressed until Mizuki comes to talk to him. Mizuki claims that if Naruto can learn a jutsu from the Sacred Scroll of Sealing, he will pass.
After Mizuki tells Naruto where to find the scroll, Naruto takes it and beings to study the Multi-Shadow Clone jutsu. Mizuki soon tells the Hokage, Iruka, and other ninja what Naruto has done. The ninja soon start to search for Naruto because he has committed a grave crime. Mizuki thinks to himself "now that I have told everyone what Naruto did, I can eliminate him. They'll be glad he is gone and, of course, I keep the scroll for myself." Soon, Iruka finds Naruto and Naruto explains what Mizuke told him.
Iruka realizes just what Mizuke has done, but before he can act, Mizuke throws shuriken at him. Iruka pushes Naruto out of danger and is hit by the shuriken. A conversation begins in which Iruka and Mizuke both tell Naruto that they other is lying to him. Violating a decree laid down by the Hokage himself, Mizuke tells Naruto that the Nine-Tailed fox is within him. This news makes Naruto feel more hurt and angry than he had ever felt before.
Mizuke now throws a weapon at Naruto. Iruka, truly caring about Naruto, throws himself over Naruto. Iruka is hit in the back and Naruto asks why Iruka would do that. Iruka explains that they are the same. Both Naruto and Iruka lost their families; they were both lonely. Iruka explained his sorrow for not helping Naruto more. Mizuke interrupts by telling Naruto that Iruka in fact hates Naruto because the Nine-Tailed fox killed his family.
Mizuke takes off after Naruto. We see the Hokage looking at the situation through a crystal ball; he worries that the Nine-Tailed fox might escape from Naruto. Soon we see Iruka trying to get the Scroll from Naruto, but Naruto attacks Iruka! The person that we thought was Iruka transforms back to his true self - it was Mizuke in disguise. The person that we thought was Naruto was in fact Iruka!
Naruto is hiding behind a tree and hears a conversation that Mizuke and Iruka have. Mizuke claims that Naruto is a beast. He says that a beast wants only power and vengeance. Iruka agrees that that is how beasts are. This statement sends Naruto into panic. Iruka then explains that Naruto is not a beast; he is Naruto Uzumaki of the Village Hidden in the Leaves.
Mizuke decides to kill Iruka now, but from the forest Naruto attacks Mizuke. Naruto tells Mizuke "if you ever lay a hand on my sensai . . . I'll kill you!" Mizuke claims to be able to defeat Naruto with a single move, but Naruto uses the jutsu he learned from the scroll, the Shadow Clone jutsu, to make hundreds of copies of himself to defeat Mizuke.
Lord Hokage tells the ninja that the situation is resolved.
After seeing Naruto's performance and dedication, Iruka decides to let Naruto graduate.
