8: The Oath of Pain

"You're Finished"

Squad 7 is happy to find that Kakashi has beaten Zabuza. However Zabuza begins to laugh. It seems Kakashi wasn't fooled by Kakashi's water clone and had made two of them. Kakashi is kicked through the air and lands in the water hiding there and stalling Zabuza with makabishi spikes while he thinks of a plan. Zabuza however is ahead of them, the water's density has been changed by Zabuza and he uses the 'Water Prison Jutsu' creating a sphere of water around Kakashi harder than steel.

Zabuza creates a water clone to take out the Squad and Tazuna. The clone begins to explain the ridiculousness of calling the genin of Squad 7 ninja, scaring the squad. He attacks Naruto knocking his head band off. Kakashi explains the water clone can't chase them so they need to take Tazuna and go. Sasuke refuses; he knows the only way to save themselves is to free Kakashi because Zabuza can track them down wherever they go. Sasuke attacks Zabuza, distracting him with kunai he jumps in the air and swings down at Zabuza's head. Zabuza has no difficulty in avoiding Sasuke's attack and catches him in the air by his neck, tossing him to the ground.

Naruto is freaked out, he wants to get away; Zabuza will destroy him otherwise. He uses his hands to push himself up and a burst of pain spreads through his arm. He remembers his pledge and looks upon his headband beneath Zabuza's foot as he remembers the stages of his life that brought him here. He reflects upon his goal in life and charges Zabuza's clone. Zabuza proceeds to beat on Naruto and tosses him away.

Sakura reprimands Naruto for attacking Zabuza alone, after all he beat Sasuke so what did Naruto think he could accomplish. All eyes then divert to Naruto's hand and inside it is the leaf headband. Naruto rises and straps the headband to his head. "Hey you, the freak with no eyebrows. Put this in your Bingo book, the Ninja who will become Hokage of the Village Hidden in the Leaves, he never backs down! His name is Naruto Uzumaki." All are impressed with Naruto, as he prepares a plan with Sasuke to beat

Kakashi becomes worried over what is developing, pleading with them to take Tazuna and protect him. Tazuna however tells them to save their sensei, Kakashi. As they are in a stand off we learn of Zabuza's past. Of the trials of the genin. To graduate one must slaughter all his classmates. Zabuza, not even a ninja, approached the classes and wiped out over a hundred other students. Zabuza, the Demon of the Mist.

He then attacks Sasuke, belting him in the stomach, blood spewing from Sasuke's mouth, he pins Sasuke to the floor with his foot. Naruto prepares to attack, using "Shadow Clone Jutsu" to remove Zabuza's attention from Sasuke. All attack Zabuza creating a dome around him but Zabuza easily reflects Naruto's attack. Naruto isn't finished yet. He searches through his bag to find a large Shuriken and throws it to Sasuke. Sasuke understands Naruto's plan, spinning around, praising Naruto for his idea.

"A shuriken?" asks Zabuza as he laughs at this plan. Sasuke uses the technique 'Demon Wind Shuriken, Windmill of Shadows', and fires a shuriken at the real Zabuza. Zabuza is impressed with the plan but he easily catches it. He catches it to find that there was a second shuriken in the shadow of the first; the 'Shadow Shuriken Jutsu' and he can't catch this one without removing his hand from the water prison. He jumps over the shuriken and dodges it and everyone is shocked, except Sasuke, who smiles. As the shuriken passes Zabuza it transforms into Naruto throwing a kunai!
